Medical Issues
In many criminal cases, medical issues play an important role. For example, the nature and severity of an injury may determine the seriousness of an assault charge; or the cause of death may be critical in a homicide case. Perhaps the physical ability of the defendant to undertake a
particular course of action may be in issue. As with cases involving mental health issues, I have long been interested in cases in which medical issues are important. I have great respect for medical professionals, but when my client’s freedom or life is on the line, I do not blindly accept what they may have to say. Rather, through my own study and through consultation with defense experts, I strive to learn as much as I can about such issues, in order to engage the medical professionals arrayed against my client on equal terms.
