State Criminal Defense
Seattle, Washington State Criminal Defense Attorney
Most criminal cases in Washington are prosecuted in the state court system, in either a superior court, a district court, or a municipal court. Generally, state felonies are handled in a superior court and state misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors are handled in a district or municipal court. There is a superior court in every county, although King County has a single court with two locations, Seattle and Kent. Every county has a district court, but some counties have multiple divisions, in different locations, of the single district court. Not every city has its own municipal
court, however. Although there are many state crimes that have federal counterparts, typically where a case is prosecuted depends on whether it was first investigated by a state or federal law enforcement agency.
We have significant experience in state criminal cases and have handled them throughout Washington.
